The thyroid is a lifestyle disorder and can be easily treated with lifestyle correction. Let's understand what is Thyroid and how can be treated with the right Nutrition. The thyroid is an endocrine gland located low in front of our neck which secrets the thyroid hormone. It regulates the body's metabolic rate and controls heart, muscle, and digestive functions. The thyroid hormones are:- 1. Triiodothyronine (T3) 2. Threonine (T4) These hormones are regulated by Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH ).TSH levels in your blood are rising and fall depending on your body’s need to produce more or fewer thyroid hormones. 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙏𝙝𝙮𝙧𝙤𝙞𝙙 𝙃𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚: 1. Hypothyroid ( less secretion of thyroid hormone) 2. Hyperthyroid ( too much secretion of thyroid hormone) 1. 𝙃𝙮𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙮𝙧𝙤𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙎𝙮𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙮𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙮𝙧𝙤𝙞𝙙: Slowers the metabolism. Lead to an increase in weight. Fatigue. 𝙇𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙮𝙧𝙤𝙞𝙙 𝙛𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙖 𝙛𝙚𝙬 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙖𝙨: Miscarriage. Low birthweight. Brain development problems. Birth defects. Women with thyroid problems can still have a healthy pregnancy. Some precautions which need to be taken while you are pregnant are: Try to conceive once your thyroid levels are normal. Continue taking the medicine prescribed by the doctor. Eating healthy food along with good multivitamins can take care of your pregnancy. Checking Thyroid levels at regular intervals. Women with no thyroid problems before pregnancy can also develop thyroid-related issues during or post-pregnancy. Which is termed gestational thyroid or postpartum thyroid which can last a maximum of a year after the child's birth. Including iodine, zinc, and selenium in the diet can promote the release of Thyroid hormone. Iodine can be supplemented with table salt, fish, dairy products, and eggs. 𝙁𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚: Whole eggs are the best source of Iodine and selenium and are full of proteins. Include meat products like mutton, chicken, and fish. Include all vegetables and cook cruciferous vegetables well before consuming. Gluten-free seeds like chia seeds, flax seeds, and rice. Include dairy products and non-caffeinated beverages. 𝙁𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙚: Avoid soy food like tofu. Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and spinach must be cooked well before consumption. Nuts like peanuts and pinenuts must be avoided. Starchy vegetables like sweet potatoes must be avoided. Women with thyroid problems still can have a healthy pregnancy. Bring your thyroid levels to normal before conception which can be done with the help of weight loss through healthy quantified meals and workouts.
